Matthew Cenedella named CFO for NAR

by Emily Marek

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) named Matthew Cenedella its new chief financial officer (CFO). He replaces John Pierpoint, who will retire at the end of the month after nearly 40 years with the association.

Cenedella is the former COO and treasurer for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and founded the group’s data division. He’s credited with helping to increase WTA’s annual revenues from $40 million to $125 million.

“Matthew’s versatility and his extensive background in finance, strategic planning and operation leadership roles will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our financial strategies, propel NAR toward a higher-performing workplace and deliver great value to our members,” NAR CEO Nykia Wright said in a press release.

A certified public accountant and certified internal auditor, Cenedella also has experience in finance roles with companies including IMG Worldwide, American Greetings, Nestle Waters, Reader’s Digest Association and SafeSport.

“I am honored to join NAR at such a pivotal time for the real estate industry,” said Cenedella. “Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work across diverse financial landscapes, from corporate enterprises to nonprofit associations, and I look forward to leveraging that experience to ensure the organization’s financial strength and to position it for strategic growth where it best suits our mission to support NAR’s members.”

Cenedella will assume the role on March 19.
