Agent Snapshot: Dominique Hicks, Realtor, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Name: Dominique Hicks

Job Title: Realtor

Company: Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

What was your first job in the realty industry? My parents are in real estate and would have my siblings and I helping clean and rehab our rental properties along with being the unofficial administrative assistant for my mother’s real estate business.

Where did you grow up? Hephzibah, GA, which is right outside of Augusta.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A&R Coordinator for Grand Hustle Records

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I like to escape in a book or a fantasy TV series for a couple of hours with a few snacks beside me.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I’d love to sit down and follow Kandi Burruss around for a day. She’s frugal, always thinking about ways to expand her businesses and pays attention to the market.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? The Edgewood Barnes & Nobles

What do you love most about the industry? Outside of the freedom that I’m slowly losing the busier I’m becoming, I’d say just being able to educate my peers and helping them across the finish line. I love celebrating with them once they close and knowing they walked into this purchase educated and on top.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I’m very relatable, family oriented and I honestly love Atlanta so I try to visit and review.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Taking action. There are days when I have leads but they aren’t ready to purchase as soon as I need them to. With my business I have to be CEO, marketing department, customer service, and Google for my clients. So just making sure that I abide by my daily operations manual and that I’m working and taking appointment 9 to 6 in order to grow my business.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I love small businesses grand openings & events held by millennials because of the range of ages you’ll have at the event.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Top gross commissions and units sold six months into my career, and I’m hoping to get there multiple times this year.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The last great book that I read was Love in the Time of Cholera. I love a generational love story.

What is your favorite restaurant? Depends on what side of town I’m on and if it’s brunch or dinner. I love Thumbs Up in East Point & Yard House in Atlantic Station. They have the best deviled eggs in Atlanta. If you can win me over with the appetizers, I’m good with whatever entree is placed in front of me.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The Fox Theater

What kind of car do you drive? 2001 Montero Sport Ltd. It’s better on gas compared to my Surburban and cleaner since the kids don’t ride in this truck.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? East Point

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? It maybe a slow burn but follow up continuously.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Zap CRM

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? @TheJasmineLeeTeam & @LearnWithDrLee
