Giving Back
The National Association of REALTORS® and Florida REALTORS® are accepting donations to provide disaster relief.
The money raised will go to nonprofit organizations that support the U.S. military community.
The brokerage cited a surge in donated items in making its annual Harry Norman Cares Initiative a success.
“The volunteers from David Weekley Homes are always eager to pitch in and get covered in sawdust,” said Ben Lake, social media and marketing director for the Georgetown chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The donation is the largest received to-date by the organization, which provides weekend meals to food-insecure children around Atlanta.
The homebuilders’ volunteers gave a lift to area homelessness nonprofits Breakthru House and The Drake House.
The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation and Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation committed $100 million to affordable housing, and Mayor Andre Dickens pledged to pass a $100 million housing bond.
The volunteers from Lennar, BOMA Georgia, Pinnacle Financial, Ameris Bank and other local businesses performed over $16,000 worth of work at Calvary Refuge Center and Gwinnett Housing Corp.
The funding was used to support St. Jude, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta.
Volunteers from Ashton Woods, Starlight Homes, SouthState Bank, Kennesaw State University National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter and Vincent Longo Custom Builders performed demolition work ahead of planned renovations at the Ascensa Health facility.
The REALTORS® Relief Foundation works to provide housing relief to victims of natural disasters.
The recipients were Jubilee Christian Church International and Oasis Sober Living.
Atlanta Land Trust is building 36 two- and three-bedroom townhomes, of which 29 will be affordable in perpetuity.
Volunteers from the homelessness organization saved the Calvary Refuge Center in Forest Park more than $60,000 in maintenance and repairs.
The independent brokerage provided the funding to a variety of local causes, including ones supporting Alzheimer’s research and providing assistance to families dealing with various hurdles.
