Parkland Communities donates almost $92,000 to local charities

by John Yellig

Parkland Communities donated more than $91,000 to Jubilee Christian Church International and Oasis Sober Living at the end of last year. The gifts bring the residential developer’s total donations to local mission-driven Christian organizations since the company formed to more than $1 million.

“Giving back to the communities where we do business is important to the entire team at Parkland Communities,” President Jim Jacobi said. “I believe that charity starts at home, and the bulk of our philanthropic efforts include supporting mission-focused private schools, funding addiction rehabilitation, conserving nature and more.”

Parkland gave Jubilee Christian Church $85,000 to support its growth plans. The South Gwinnett church plans to build a top-class daycare center ministering to children and build up its youth ministry, Scripture Café.

Parkland has a development adjacent to the church and another one nearby. Pastor Michael Adebiyi said the donation will help the church provide every family moving into the developments with a fruit basket and host monthly welcome dinners for new residents.

“Jim’s donation is coming to hatch our egg and allow it to fly,” Adebiyi said. “Our vision was inside a financial shell, and Jim has come to break the shell open to help us find expression. And this is just the first step. We plan to also partner with city and county stakeholders to make a more significant difference.”

Parkland also donated $6,376 to Tucker’s Oasis Sober Living to support the nonprofit recovery residence, which provides clean and sober living with a 12-step, structured environment. Oasis is a sister program to Breakthrough Recovery Outreach, which offers affordable-housing options for people who cannot afford a traditional private residential treatment program but have Medicaid insurance.
