Jill and Dan Petersen grew up in family-owned businesses, so it was only natural that they started one of their own. The couple complements each other at work: Jill’s strength is with people, while Dan’s is running a business.
Jill took the leap first, leaving a corporate job to pursue a career in real estate. Dan joined her several years later, after moving on from a new business development position with a tech company. Combined, they have more than 40 years of experience in real estate and lead the Petersen Partners team at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices — Jill as CEO and president, and Dan, CFO and CMO.
From selling thousands of homes, they have learned the metro Atlanta area really well. Still, as their team grew, they added members who specialize in certain areas, which has boosted the team’s overall market knowledge.
With his tech background, Dan has assembled some of the best technology platforms to better run, manage and scale each teammate’s individual business. The group’s integrated customer relationship management system helps teammates with prospecting, as well as managing and tracking transactions. “It provides a huge amount of information that lets each team member, and us as a team, better manage our business,” the Petersens say.
Despite the pandemic, the team had its best year ever last year. They’ve also been the top Berkshire Hathaway Georgia team almost every year since 2014 and have ranked in the company’s top 100 in the U.S. for several years.
The Petersens are now at a point in their careers where they can truly focus on coaching and supporting team members to help them grow their businesses. “It is very tough for an individual agent to scale their business to the next level,” they say. “Being on our team makes it much easier with less risk and cost.”
