Just like any good social media site, Houzz is designed to attract new customers to your business. However, what makes Houzz different from Pinterest or Facebook is that it draws in a different type of consumer, one who is looking to redecorate, remodel or even find or build a new home.
As an agent or new homebuilder, Houzz is a great way to show off how the amazing standard or upgraded features are included in new homes these days. Agents can also demonstrate how that resale home can be transformed into a true beauty.
Though Houzz isn’t putting up the same kinds of statistics as Pinterest or Instagram, it does have the distinct advantage of being geared directly towards those in the home industry, meaning you are receiving a higher quality of traffic when it comes to converting a sale.
The first step in creating your Houzz profile, as with any social media site, is to completely fill our your profile with information such as your website URL, services offered, business description, areas served, awards and certifications, contact information and social media profiles.
Next, upload photos to create your “project” boards. You can choose how you want to organize these, but some popular ways include by floor plan, room type, community or location. For each photo, be sure to fill in additional information on what type of space or product it is, keywords, a link back to your website, information on the products used in the room, etc. That way, if a homeowner really likes a particular photo, they can click on your profile or website to get in touch with you.
Once you have a profile and pictures set up, also be sure to participate in discussions by answering questions. This type of involvement will get you noticed, and establish you as an expert in your field and as someone who cares about your customers.
