Art and vibrancy make Brookhaven one of Metro Atlanta’s top housing markets

Brookhaven is among Metro Atlanta’s top-selling luxury markets. Just in 2016, it has seen 31 sales of $1 million-plus homes, which places it in the No. 5 spot of the top-10 luxury housing market in Metro Atlanta.

Below, we’ve listed three reasons that contribute to the area’s high housing demand.

A Vibrant Town

Movoto rated Brookhaven the most exciting place in all of Georgia, and for good reason: at 40 percent of its population, the town has a higher percentage of young people than Atlanta, and also has more nightlife, music and arts per capita. Furthermore, Brookhaven is a relatively dense urban area, and has all the dining, shopping, gyms and salons that come with such a walkable area.

Art and Nature

Brookhaven is the home to the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art. It offers three major and several smaller exhibitions each year for students and the general public. It also hosts concerts and lectures throughout the year.

The town is also rich in public offerings. There are 12 parks, including Murphy Chandler Park, which opened more than 60 years ago and is still the largest park in the North Dekalb area of Atlanta. Additionally, Brookhaven’s Parks and Recreational provides numerous programming for residents of all ages, including classes in ballet, tennis, yoga and kid-engineering courses wth Legos.

Festivals

Brookhaven is awash in festivals and other social gatherings. In the last month alone, the town has hosted the Duck Duck Goose 5k (which used its proceeds to support the Murphy Chandler Park Conservancy) and is prepping the Brookhaven Brunch Festival, which will feature such establishments as Atlanta Breakfast Club and D.B.A. Barbecue.

According to the Brookhaven’s websites, there are annual events happening nine out of 12 months throughout the year, including Cherry Blossom Festival in April, Brookhaven Chili Cook-off in October and Light Up Brookhaven in December.
