Atlanta ranked No. 7 highest-growth real estate market

by

In a recent ranking of the 10 highest-growth real estate markets of 2018, Atlanta has ranked No. 7 in the country.

Roofstock analyzed employment growth and expansion of the prime renter cohort — primarily millennials age 20 to 34 — to determine which real estate markets are showing the most promise. As young millennials start careers and families, their demand for rental homes has increased. This has provided significant market growth for cities like Atlanta.

The Atlanta metropolitan area was ranked the No. 3 largest-gaining metropolitan area in the country with a population increase of over 89,000 from 2016 to 2017. While population growth remains strong, gross rental returns also exceed 8 percent in the metro.

Home to 15 Fortune 500 companies, Atlanta also displays a strong forecast for primary and secondary job growth.

Overall, the South dominates the top 10 list with seven cities.

  1. Orlando, Fla.
  2. Raleigh, N.C.
  3. Austin, Texas
  4. Charlotte, N.C.
  5. Salt Lake City
  6. Houston
  7. Atlanta
  8. Phoenix
  9. Seattle
  10. Tampa, Fla.
