Work is set to start on the 335-home Liberty Crossing master-planned community in Braselton following the purchase of a 146-acre site by national homebuilder D.R. Horton.

The development will be completed in three phases, with the first phase of work set to begin this summer and house construction to begin in fall 2023.

“D.R. Horton has been a prolific builder in the Jackson County area, and we are excited to see their continued success in the development of the Liberty Crossing Master Plan,” said Anthony Sparrow, senior vice president for Walton Global Holdings, which sold the land. “Adding more homes to this area will help both homebuyers and businesses in this hot market.”

Liberty Crossing is located about four miles from the Chateau Elan Golf Course, Spa and Winery, 14 miles from the Mall of Georgia and 43 miles northeast of Atlanta, off of I-85.

D.R. Horton and Walton have had other land deals this year. The homebuilder recently closed on the first phase of a 409-acre acquisition in Dallas in Paulding County, where it plans to develop the Edenwood master-planned community. In April, Walton announced the closing of the second tranche of a two-phase land sale to D.R. Horton, which plans to develop 65 lots in the Madison Lakes community in Morgan County.
