Dorsey Alston donates $45,000 to area nonprofits to celebrate 75th anniversary

by John Yellig

Dorsey Alston, Realtors donated $45,000 to several local charities in honor of its 75th anniversary. Recipients included an organization supporting Alzheimer’s research and groups that help families dealing with ALS, disabilities, special needs, poverty and medical emergencies.

The independently owned firm donated $10,000 to Daughters Against Alzheimer’s, $7,500 each to Hope Heals Camp and The Drake House and $5,000 each to ALS-Georgia Chapter, Children’s Flight of Hope, Giving Grace and Exception Foundation of ATL.

Earlier this year, Dorsey Alston asked agents and staff to nominate charities they support to receive the donations.

Agent Robbie Jackson said she was grateful for the gift to her charity of choice, Hope Heals, which provides a camp and year-round support for people with disabilities and their families.

“Hope Heals Camp is a place where joy is found in the broken parts of all our stories and every member of this community is beloved,” Jackson said. “It is a place where the lines of giving and receiving are blurred and volunteers and campers all come to the shared table with disabilities.”
