HomeSmart acquires Solid Source Real Estate

by John Yellig

HomeSmart acquired Roswell-based Solid Source Real Estate Companies, bringing approximately 2,000 Atlanta-area agents into its ranks.

The Solid Source brokerage was founded in 2003. Since then, it has grown to eight offices. Its acquisition bolsters HomeSmart’s expanding Georgia footprint, which encompasses other corporate and franchised locations across the state, including its January 2021 purchase of Atlanta-based PalmerHouse Properties, which the company said was its largest purchase in Georgia before Solid Source and a pivotal step in its strategic expansion plan.

“In less than two decades, we’ve scaled our model to more than 25,000 agents across over 200 office locations and operating ability in 49 states,” HomeSmart founder and CEO Matt Widdows said in a press release. “I believe we’re the only brokerage with the right foundation and system of people, processes and proprietary technology to allow growth at this rate.”

In announcing the Solid Source deal, HomeSmart said Palmerhouse, which brought more than 2,000 agents and six new markets to its portfolio, is rebranding itself to HomeSmart to better align with the national network.

The Solid Source acquisition makes HomeSmart the No. 1 transaction-fee brokerage in Georgia based on agent count (4,047), transaction sides (11,021) and sales volume ($4,550,547,983), according to the company.

“The unparalleled value HomeSmart offers to agents and the consumer experience, along with its extraordinary vision for the future in our industry, made the decision to sell to HomeSmart the obvious path forward,” Solid Source President and CEO Michele Velchek said. “Solid Source Realty is honored and thankful to join the HomeSmart bamily — business family!”
