GAMLS: Atlanta home sales rebound in May

Atlanta home sales surged month-over-month in May on both a per-unit and sales-volume basis, while the median sales price gained ground as well.      

By unit, home sales rose 12.8% to 5,698 properties, Georgia MLS reported, citing its 12-county Housing Market Snapshot. By dollar volume, sales came in at $2.83 billion, up 19.7% from April. On a year-over-year basis, the number and value of homes sold fell 19% and 17.2%, respectively.    

The median sales price of homes sold in May was $400,000, up 2.6% from $390,000 in April but down 2.2% from $409,000 in May 2022.      

New listings jumped 14.3% month over month but fell 17.6% year over year to 7,602, while active listings were up 0.1% on a monthly basis and 27.1% on a yearly one, at 9,377.      

Georgia MLS’ 12-county report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
