Davidson Homes COO joins Blue River Communities as president and CEO

by John Yellig

Greg Duriez, the now-former COO of Davidson Homes, has moved to Blue River Communities, where he will serve as president, CEO and partner.

Duriez is a 34-year veteran of the homebuilding industry and has led teams in Georgia, North Carolina, New Jersey, Tennessee, Florida, Texas and Alabama. His hiring comes as Blue River Construction’s parent company, Blue River Development, has brought on several new strategic partners and executives as it prepares to develop its 6,000-lot pipeline next year.

Looking forward, Blue River Construction plans to focus on market-rate, single-family detached homes and townhomes from the $300,000s to $600,000s. It expects to start work on more than 500 lots and homes throughout the Southeast, Florida and Texas in 2024, with immediate work in Gwinnett, Barrow and Henry counties near Atlanta, as well as Huntsville, Alabama; Dallas; and Sarasota, Florida.

“I’m thrilled to launch Blue River Communities and be a part of the Blue River Development family,” Duriez said. “Having worked with the team previously and admired their strategy, success and spirit of entrepreneurship, the decision to join was easy. It’s an opportune moment to leverage my experience and contribute to a company poised for rapid growth and expansion.”

Blue River Communities will pursue both build-to-rent and for-sale housing projects. The firm will have first-hand access to newly approved and developed communities from Blue River Development.

An instrument-rated pilot and avid golfer, Duriez lives in Buford and enjoys spending time with his family of seven children, aged 21 to 30, and one granddaughter.
