Kelly Dempsey has been named chairman of the Atlanta 50+ Housing Council of the GAHBA.

Jim Chapman Communities is pleased to announce that Kelly Dempsey, vice president of sales and marketing, has once again been named chairman of the Atlanta 50+ Housing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) for 2014.

As one of the nation’s largest 50+ councils, Dempsey’s role includes advising its board members and committees on membership, programs, advocacy, education and charity.

“It is an honor to work with such dedicated professionals,” Dempsey said. “All are valuable to the active adult housing industry and have provided some great opportunities for our members this year.”

Dempsey Looks Forward to the Future

The last event of 2013 was held on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Cobb Galleria. Members enjoyed networking and lunch followed by a presentation by Manny Gonzalez, principal with KTGY Group, Inc., Architecture + Planning.

Gonzalez discussed universal design and how today’s active adults want to live at communities that provide amenities and convenient locations. He specifically mentioned Brookhaven at Sugarloaf in Duluth, Brookhaven of East Cobb in Kennesaw and Brookhaven at Lanier Ridge in Cumming as examples of ideal communities.

“I look forward to watching our council grow further next year and cannot wait to see what’s in store for 50+ housing,” Dempsey said.
