My Style: Darius U. Bailey, Realtor, BHGRE Metro Brokers

by Atlanta Agent

Number of years in real estate: March 2017 marked my first year. It’s been a great one!Darius Bailey

Describe your look: Professionally polished, yet comfortable.

What do you consider a “fashion don’t”? I’m a U.S.M.C. veteran. Additionally, I have a background in television. Seeing clothes that are not properly fitted has always been a huge pet peeve of mine. I believe one should take the time to ensure professional clothing is tailored to fit his or her body shape and size.

What is your favorite piece of clothing and why? A blazer! I have a blazer for almost every occasion. If I’m meeting a client for the first time I’m wearing a full suit. This assures or at least gives my clients the impression that I’m representing them in a professional manner. Perception is everything. If I’m out soliciting new business, I’m usually wearing a pair of jeans but with a clean polo shirt with the company logo. Even on such occasions, my blazer completes the look.

What do you consider a must-have accessory? My watch! I never leave home without a watch. Not having a watch on my left arm gives me anxiety.

Where are your favorite places to shop? DSW: They have the best shoes! However, I’m not a big shopper. My wife can attest to this. I’m more of a “style opportunist.” If I happen to be somewhere and I see something that I believe will look nice on me, I’ll buy it. I do frequent Ross and Marshall’s — however, I usually never find much other than a blue dress shirt. Most recently, I just found my favorite pair of jeans at a True Religion store in Las Vegas.

What, besides your wardrobe, completes your look? My Realtor pin. I’m a proud member. I believe it embodies the professionalism of the real estate industry as well as my values as professional. I’m proud to make the distinction between licensee and Realtor.

What is in your bag/briefcase? I don’t carry a briefcase. I would probably lose it if I did. My iPhone gives me the convenience of sharing information and staying in contact with my clients.

My closet is full of…blazers, my cologne collection, ties and watches.

What is your style advice for other people in the industry? As real estate agents we don’t just represent the public and our brokerage firms in every transaction. We also represent one another to the public. We are the direct connection between the real estate market and the general public. It’s extremely important that our look is congruent with our roles as real estate professionals. I’m a firm believer that professionalism goes beyond just our behavior. Our style of dress counts as well.
