Atlanta is one of the top cities where college-educated people are putting their degrees to work, according to a new report from WalletHub. 

Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau and GreatSchools.org, the finance company analyzed the 150 largest metropolitan areas in America to determine which is the most educated based on factors like percentage of diploma holders, average university quality, local public school quality and racial/gender education gaps.

Atlanta came in at No. 25 overall, between Huntsville, Alabama, and New York. The No. 1 city on the list was Ann Arbor, Michigan, which ranked first for rate of educational attainment and first for lowest gap in quality of education versus attainment.  

“Cities want to attract highly educated workers to fuel their economic growth and tax revenues,” WalletHub financial writer Adam McCann said. “Higher levels of education tend to lead to higher salaries. Plus, the more that graduates earn, the more tax dollars they contribute over time.”
