Local multifamily developer Zimmerman Properties and investment firm TriStar LLC formed a strategic alliance to develop two affordable-housing communities in Clayton County.
The Flats at Mt. Zion will be a 210-unit apartment community aimed at families with children attending Mt. Zion elementary and primary schools, and the Villas at Mt. Zion will be a 96-unit independent-living residence for people 55 years old and older.
The two communities will be part of a single, gated development sharing a swimming pool, exercise facility, wellness center and other amenities. The community will also have the Early Learning Center, which will be staffed by Star-C Inc., an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that provides residents with free on-site services, including an after-school program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, summer camps and other activities.
“Through the alliance, Zimmerman and TriStar will build and operate affordable-housing communities that offer innovative wraparound services focusing on the education, social and emotional wellbeing of its residents,” Zimmerman COO Bob Davidson said in a press release. “We’re excited about both the collaboration and the innovative aspects of this initiative.”
The community will be located at 3297 Mount Zion Road in Stockbridge.
