CommercialSearch: Atlanta multifamily sector among hottest in the U.S. in last decade

Atlanta was second only to Dallas-Fort Worth by number of multifamily deals between 2009 and 2020, according to CommercialSearch.

Atlanta has seen an explosion of activity in the multifamily sector over the last 10 years, posting the second-highest number of deals after the Dallas-Forth Worth metro area between 2009 and 2020, CommercialSearch reported.

Specifically, Atlanta saw 2,134 multifamily transactions, compared to 2,227 deals in Dallas. Atlanta had the most units sold during the period, at 553,378 units, compared to 516,693 in Dallas, and saw sales top Dallas by $6.3 billion.

Nationwide, the last decade has seen a flurry of activity in the multifamily sector, with more than $912 billion worth of deals taking place. Volume in Atlanta and New York City topped $50 billion during the period.
