Duluth city councilor joins The Life Properties as president

by John Yellig

Multifamily property and construction manager The Life Properties hired The Management Group LLC’s former executive vice president and partner Jamin Harkness as president.

In his new role, Harkness, who currently serves as a member of the Duluth City Council, will focus on overseeing the day-to-day operations of The Life Properties’ portfolio of 16,000 workforce and affordable housing units.

The Life Properties is the property-management arm of private investment company Olive Tree Holdings.

“With a deep bench of knowledge and experience across all facets of the multifamily real estate landscape, Jamin is a nationally recognized leader and innovator within the industry,” Olive Tree managing principal and CEO Ian Bel said in a news release. “With a leadership approach that parallels Olive Tree’s commitment to being a people- and community-first organization, we’re confident that Jamin’s addition to The Life Properties will only deepen the firm’s already significant impact on the people and communities it serves.”

Before he worked at The Management Group, Harkness was vice president at Wesley Apartment Homes.

“I am excited to work with a team that embraces a People First Culture,” Harkness said. “I am informed by my past experience in the multifamily industry, present opportunities and future goals when making decisions, and this organization directly aligns with my core values of integrity in all interactions, while simultaneously supporting my passion for social impact causes.”

Harkness holds a B.S. in organizational communications and an M.B.A in management from Kennesaw State University.
