Johns Creek City Council approved the mixed-use rezoning request for Medley, Toro Development Company’s 43-acre mixed-use community on the site of the former State Farm Insurance office campus.

Medley is the first project to apply for and receive Johns Creek’s new TC-X mixed-use zoning classification. Groundbreaking is planned for the third quarter of 2023.

The project’s site is at the intersection of Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road (11650 Johns Creek Parkway) and is a major component of Johns Creek’s new town center, which will be anchored by City Hall and encompass 192 acres of new housing, restaurants, retail and offices, all woven together by public pathways and parks.

Toro says it will develop Medley, so called for its “variety of flavors, experiences and people,” to be a magnetic “eatertainment” destination.

The developer’s plans include 900 residential units with a mix of townhomes and apartments, 200,000 square feet of space for retail, restaurants and entertainment, and 110,000 square feet of office space.

“City Council approval is an important milestone for Medley, and we’re thrilled to be one step closer to creating a true gathering place for the residents of Johns Creek,” Toro Development principal and chief vision officer Mark Toro said in a press release. “Medley will kickstart the transformative Town Center Vision and Plan, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work in close partnership with the city to deliver a vibrant and urbanesque mixed-use experience.”

Toro’s development team includes Franklin Street senior director Len Erickson and senior associate Kaitlyn Theriot, who will lead retail leasing, Stream managing director Bryan Heller and Vice President Billy Graddy, who will lead office leasing, architect Nelson Worldwide, engineering firm Kimley-Horn and landscape architect Site Solutions.
