Atlanta offers everything remote workers need to thrive, according to a new study from CoworkingCafe. The city’s lifestyle offerings, coworking opportunities and strong economy made it the No. 1 metro nationwide for those who work outside traditional offices.
Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau and other sources, CoworkingCafe ranked U.S metros based on metrics like the local share of remote workers, coworking space availability, broadband access and cost of living. Atlanta was followed by Frisco, Texas, and Boulder, Colorado.
Atlanta has the highest coworking space density in the nation, with over 119 coworking spaces scattered across the city. For the 26% of Atlantans who work remotely, these locations offer opportunities to connect and work in community environments.
The city also offers ideal economic circumstances for remote employees. Atlantans earn a median income of $60,600 and enjoy a cost of living below the national average.
Plus, the city provides access to reliable fiber coverage and public Wi-Fi networks, and plenty of diverse after-work entertainment options.
“In today’s remote work landscape, the freedom to work from anywhere has redefined what it means to build a career and a lifestyle,” said CoworkingCafe’s Sanziana Bona. “Yet, as our findings reveal, not every city provides the same balance of opportunity, comfort and connection. Some places simply make it easier — and more enjoyable — to thrive outside of the traditional office. Ultimately, the best environments for remote work are those that combine strong digital infrastructure, a resilient economy and a bustling community beyond the screen.”
