by John Yellig

The Morningside home that Atlanta Mayor William Hartsfield lived in during his six terms in office recently sold for $1,275,000 to a young couple buying their first house.

The 2,826-square-foot Tudor at 637 East Pelham Road was listed for $1,295,000 by Engel & Völkers Atlanta agent Ken Covers. Built in the 1940s, it features antique craftsmanship and period architecture with five bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Atlanta’s longest-serving mayor and one of the namesakes of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Hartsfield’s terms ran from 1937 to 1941 and again from 1942 to 1962.
