Jill & Dan Petersen

Petersen Partners I Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices

Jill Petersen, CEO/President of Petersen Partners & Managing Buyers
Dan Petersen, CMO/CFO Sales & Marketing

Jill and Dan Petersen’s expertise working with both buyers and sellers has firmly established them as a pivotal force in Atlanta real estate. With nearly 35 years of combined experience, the Petersens are on track to sell in excess of $50 million in property in 2015, focusing primarily on relocation, referral and luxury clients in Cobb and Fulton Counties. Their perennial success had merited them the distinction of ranking in the top half of the top 1 percent of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices worldwide in 2014, as well as receipt of the company’s Chairman’s Circle Diamond Award. These achievements, Jill points out, are largely due to stellar customer service and a dedicated group of team members appointed to each client. “We’re devoted to providing clients the high-quality attention they deserve and always going that extra mile for them.”

This approach applies both to the buyers’ business that Jill oversees and Dan’s work with their sellers. Leveraging his business development and finance experience, Dan describes his expertise as market analysis, which allows him to focus on key data points when assessing market conditions and drivers. This information, presented to sellers 30 days after they list in order to give them a clearer view of where their home fits into the local market, helps inform their sales strategy. “Sellers feel more confident when we use data to drive our decisions, because doing so allows us to offer better counsel than simply ‘drop the price,’ which, generally, isn’t the best strategy,” he says. He adds that boasting a 100 percent list-to-sale price is not always an indicator of goal attainment, since it doesn’t necessarily reflect the best possible outcome for a client. “Every sale is unique, so every marketing and pricing strategy should be customized to maximize the sales price in the optimal period of time.”

Jill helps clients narrow their search parameters based on variables like commute time to the office, children’s activities and desired community to make certain she places the right people in the right house. “I enjoy hearing clients say that they love their home once they’ve purchased it and moved in; it warms my heart,” she says. Like her husband, she relies on technology and statistics to tailor her search and negotiation tactics, both of which she has mastered over the past two decades. “We’re very fortunate to be affiliated with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, which is renowned for its market knowledge, tools and training,” she says. “We embrace and incorporate new technology in all aspects of our work so that we can partner with our clients to create a viable plan of action.”

The parents of two teenage boys, the Petersens credit their profession for rewarding them with amazing friends and the opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones. Jill serves as team mom for many of her boys’ sports activities, while Dan launched and continues to coach the wrestling program at their school, Whitefield Academy. Because they value family themselves, this couple understands that a house should truly be a home. “We always challenge ourselves to look at the big picture so that our clients are satisfied with their real estate decision because, after all, it’s a life-changing decision,” says Jill, and Dan echoes that sentiment. “They say that if you’re not part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem, so our philosophy is to be the best at what we do so that everyone wins at the end of the day.”
