David Weekley Homes was named 2021 Builder of the Year by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association at its annual Installation and Awards Program on Jan. 20.

The award recognizes an association member who has demonstrated a commitment to professional excellence while also making significant contributions to the group’s goals and mission, according to a press release. Adam Cornett, Josh Hilscher and Lesa Ness accepted the award on behalf of David Weekley’s Atlanta division at the event, which was held at the Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta.

“We were particularly happy to recognize David Weekley Homes as our 2021 Builder of the Year because of what they meant to the association as a whole last year,” said Emily Raymond, GAHBA meetings and events director.

Among the firm’s contributions to the association, Raymond said, were its organization and hosting of the first Backyard Builder Bash event and participation in the annual Parade of Homes. David Weekley also took home four gold awards and seven silver awards at the 2021 OBIE Awards ceremony in October.

“The homebuilding industry in Atlanta is a true community, and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association does a stellar job of bringing that community together to further our trade,” said Cornett, who serves as president of the Atlanta division. “Council and committee meetings are so much more than networking and administrative events. They are invaluable opportunities for us to learn from one another and share our experiences.”

Also during the awards ceremony, Whit Marshall of Paran Homes was installed as president of GAHBA for 2022. Other officers and board members of the association and its designated charity, HomeAid Atlanta, were named as well.
