Suwanee named a top suburb for city-like living

by John Yellig

Suwanee was ranked as the sixth-best U.S. suburb for city-like living in a new survey from StorageCafe, which cited the town’s strong education, residential and business sectors.

“An excellent place for raising a family, mainly thanks to its well-performing schooling system, this Atlanta suburb also offers diverse living options, including high-quality mixed-use developments, as well as an array of culture and entertainment amenities,” StorageCafe said in its analysis, which looked at 912 localities with populations between 10,000 and 100,000 near the 100 largest cities.

StorageCafe considered a variety of factors when compiling its list, including housing affordability, new construction, demographics, business environment, shopping and dining amenities, health, education, safety and transportation options.

Among Suwanee’s big-city amenities is its 25-acre town center, which provides urban-style greenspace for public events, StorageCafe said. The online self-storage platform also noted the suburb’s healthy economy, which boasts 42 businesses per 1,000 residents and a median household income of $99,000.

StorageCafe’s top 10 suburbs for city-like living are:

  1. Edina, Minnesota (Minneapolis)
  2. Falls Church, Virginia (Washington, D.C.)
  3. Palo Alto, California (San Francisco)
  4. Franklin, Tennessee (Nashville)
  5. Venice, Florida (St. Petersburg/Tampa/Fort Myers)
  6. Suwanee, Georgia (Atlanta)
  7. Los Gatos, California (San Francisco)
  8. Burlingame, California (San Francisco)
