Beth Gustafson is a real estate consultant with Keller Williams Realty in Atlanta.

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was an administrative assistant.

Where did you grow up? South Texas.

What is your favorite free-time activity? Being outside, entertaining at my home and listening to music of all genres.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Work in the yard, read, walk the neighborhood or watch TV.

Growing up, what did you want to be? An executive of a Fortune 500 company with an office on the top floor with glass on all sides. I also dreamed of being a marine biologist, an Olympian and owning my own retail shop that would sell coffee, books and candles.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Barbra Streisand – I love her commitment to her commitments and her ability to take stands on what she believes, and how she gives back to her community.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Home.

What do you love most about the industry? I like this industry, as every day is a new challenge, and I have to rise to the occassion to stay on top and aware of the changing markets.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Reputation, honesty, dependable and accountable to all my clients.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Working with difficult agents who make your work a chore and not fun.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? The symphony, church, restaurants, college networking events, college alumni associations and serving on local committees.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Being told that I am one of the few honest and reputable agents a client has used, and then gaining more referrals.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? August Osage County – movie; Thomas Jefferson – book.

What is your favorite restaurant? Blue Ridge Grill for enjoying the evening, and Nuevo Laredo for my Mexican food fix.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? 191 Peachtree Street – Tom Cousins building.

What kind of car do you drive? None at the moment.

Smartphone or paper? Paper.

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Austin, Texas.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Build a database, attend classes and get a mentor.
