Rick Arzet is an Associate Broker with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Georgia Properties in Atlanta.

What was your first job in the realty industry? Sales agent, where I learned how to knock on doors.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I reject stress.

Where did you grow up? Indianapolis and Detroit.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Lawyer or automobile stylist.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Jack Kennedy. While he had it all, he had a way to share with the common folks. I would love to have lunch for about an hour and he doing most of the talking. Had he lived, he would have made some astounding changes for the better.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? With my youngest grandkids.

What do you love most about the industry? No guarantees – only opportunities. A person can develop at their own speed and generate as much business as they wish, and there ain’t no more grade cards or production reviews. You do your own production reviews when you make a bank visit on the first of each month, one way or the other.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? One of my clients put is best when he told a counterpart, “If Rick says it, you can put it in the bank and it won’t bounce.” That says it all for me. Your word is actually the only thing you have to offer the public.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Figuring out that I am not in charge.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? All over Atlanta. I am in the church marketing business, and I go to any church in the metro area and do business and network.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I actual made it this far in life and defied my father’s vision of my total failure.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I don’t watch movies. I am an avid reader, and Nicholas Sparks is my favorite.

What is your favorite restaurant? Bay Breeze Seafood.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The Fox Theater.

What kind of car do you drive? 2006 Ford Five Hundred.

Smartphone or paper? Supposed to be a smartphone, but I have my doubts.

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Memphis. I was stationed there in the U.S. Navy, and arrived when Elvis hit his stride. Loved it!

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Stay with it if it is your dream.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Google.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I dont do Twitter yet.
