elizabeth-king-dorsey-alston

Elizabeth King is a Realtor with Dorsey Alston Realtors in Buckhead/Brookhaven.

What was your first job in the realty industry? When I was on summer break in college, I worked as my mother’s real estate assistant for three summers. This helped me learn the basics of the real estate business and get some experience. When I got my license and graduated from the University of Alabama, I worked for Harry Norman, Realtors as my first job being a licensed Realtor.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Garden Hills neighborhood in the heart of Buckhead in Atlanta.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A movie star.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Lots of things! I sometimes go get a massage or a facial. I will walk my golden retriever, garden in my yard or go to a workout class.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Jackie Kennedy. I have always admired her and read a lot of books about the Kennedys and their family. Jackie was the ultimate first-lady.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? The Painted Pin.

What do you love most about the industry? I love the wonderful people who I have met and worked with, many who have become great friends and loyal clients. I also love the amazing Realtor friends I have made in this business.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I’m a native Atlantan – born, bred and live where I grew up. I do a lot of marketing to distinguish myself from other Realtors. I specialize in certain areas of Atlanta that I know best, and I use my knowledge of those areas, my current listings, sales, etc. in my direct mail and social media marketing.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? It can be very frustrating at times when you work with people, but they use another Realtor or decide not to sell or buy after you’ve spent a lot of valuable time working with them. You need tough skin to be in this business. I try not to let anything get me down, and am determined to do the best I can and provide my buyers and sellers with outstanding customer service.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I am involved in numerous organizations like my neighborhood association, garden club, my church, Bible study and my alumni associations. I use all of those to network with prospective clients. I network with fellow agents every week in my office and every Tuesday on caravan.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I recently became a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club for the Atlanta Board of Realtors for selling over $4 million in sales volume in 2014. That is my biggest accomplishment in my real estate career so far.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “American Sniper.”

What is your favorite restaurant? Watershed.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? Ponce City Market – the old Sears Building.

What kind of car do you drive? A BMW 328i.

Smartphone or paper? I use my smartphone for a lot of things, but to make my daily work or weekly grocery store list, I use notepad paper.

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Jackson Hole, WY.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry? Be patient, and take your time building your real estate business.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Zillow.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Alabama football, Reese Witherspoon, AJC, Dorsey Alston, ESPN and ABC’s Revenge.
