amanda-stains-century-21

Amanda Staines is a Realtor at CENTURY 21 Results Realty Services

What was your first job in the realty industry? In 1981, I ran the night switch board for Northside Realty. We took calls for over 800 Realtors from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. I actually worked there with my mom.

Where did you grow up? Smyrna/Marietta Georgia

Growing up, what did you want to be? Oddly enough, my best friend’s mom was a Realtor, so aside from being a professional figure skater, it was always real estate. I started in the business when I was 16 and never left.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Take several deep breaths and ask myself, “Five years from now, is this going to be important?” It helps me let it go quicker.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Margaret Thatcher. I’m originally from England, and I think she is one of the most amazing women that has ever been in the political arena.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My office. I have a beautiful home office that looks out to a gorgeous deck with beautiful flowers and trees. It keeps me calm and yet motivated.

What do you love most about the industry? Helping people get to where they want to be and helping them either get into a home or get out of their home. People are usually very stressed, and I enjoy the challenge of keeping them calm and helping them through the process.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Marketing – it is a huge passion of mine, and I think if you lead with thoughtful marketing, you create value for the properties you are selling and for yourself as a sales professional.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Setting realistic expectations with clients.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Mostly the Internet and my son’s sporting events, where I meet people organically.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My son – he is 11.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “Spy” the movie – it made me laugh, and I needed that.

What is your favorite restaurant? Pampas Steakhouse

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The Georgia State Capitol Building – I love the gold dome, and that many of the building materials are from Georgia.

What kind of car do you drive? Mercedes

Smartphone or paper? Paper

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? St. Simons, right here in Georgia

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Be yourself, create good habits and stay motivated.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Century 21 Corporate App

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I’m not a Twitter person.
