Agent Snapshot: Madeline S. Sater, Realtor, Harry Norman, Realtors, Buckhead

6400a0c76de77d4a07c8b93cb5adf5faWhat was your first job in the realty industry? I worked for Pace Construction in the human resources department. I loved seeing things built from the ground up.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Sarasota, Florida.

Growing up, what did you want to be? My father was a general contractor and I used to go to the construction sites with him on the weekends. I loved working in his office and wanted to go into construction in some capacity, but he wouldn’t allow me to go into the business. Instead, I received a degree in counseling and went into human resources for a construction company. I was going to somehow get into the world of real estate/construction. I now use that love of construction when I look at homes with and for my clients.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I love to go to the movies or read a good trashy book!

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Benjamin Netanyahu. I know he is controversial, but he is a no-nonsense, principled person. He stands by his people and is a strong leader. Takes his position and defends it.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? On a beach in the sunshine

What do you love most about the industry? Meeting new people, and the fact that it’s constantly changing

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I’m very customer service-oriented. I get to know each client individually and learn their likes and dislikes. I spend an enormous amount of time on them. I pride myself on the amount of repeat clients I have.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Trying to deal with a client’s unrealistic expectations versus their budget.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I have a large referral business and I work that database. Having lived in Atlanta for 35 years, being an Atlanta native and raised our three children, I typically go to the same places and have for years. When new people come into those places I frequent, I get to know them too.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I loved raising my three kids and then successfully going back into the workforce.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “Snowden” – was he a hero or a traitor?

What is your favorite restaurant? Chops

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The Fox Theatre. I love the entire feel of the building. The history that surrounds the building is fascinating to me. My mother in law tells stories of when she was a little girl and went to the movies there – she went by trolley and dressed up! It is a special place, and usually people leave with a smile on their face.

What kind of car do you drive? A small luxury SUV

Smartphone or paper? Paper – old school

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? It’s a toss up between New Orleans and Nashville. Both have great foods and music, and they’re not too far from Atlanta.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Get your systems in place and be organized.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Harry Norman Home Search

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? GA Horse Racing, E News! and People
