Agent Snapshot: Veronique Jones, Associate Broker, PalmerHouse Properties

What was your first job in the realty industry? Back in France when I was about 18 years old, I was a sales agent on the weekends for a builder on the coast in Normandy for vacation condos being built. The office was a trailer on the construction site. This was very first real estate experience.

Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Caen, France, in Normandy, specifically very close to where D-Day took place. Aside from the constant rainy weather, it was a great place to grow up – the beach is close by, there is a lot of history and it is such a beautiful area.

Growing up, what did you want to be? My grandfather was an architect and my mom and stepdad were loan officers in France, so real estate is in my blood. I always knew I would be in the real estate world one way or another.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Taking long walks with my husband is the best remedy.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I love mysteries, particularly Mary Higgins Clark’s books. I would be so interested to know how she creates an entire story and puts together a plot.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I love going back to France and spending time with family and friends. It’s the best way to recuperate!

What do you love most about the industry? Each day is different. Meeting people from all backgrounds and cultures is a treat.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Simple: I answer my phone and keep my clients informed every step of the way. I am easily reachable.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? You can never totally disconnect!

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I prospect regularly and everywhere I go I mention what I do for a living and how I can best help people with their real estate needs.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Raising three wonderful children – two sons and one daughter

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I saw La La Land a couple of weeks ago. It was very enjoyable.

What is your favorite restaurant? Sun Dial, where my husband proposed

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The Edward C. Peters House on Ponce De Leon. It has so much character.

What kind of car do you drive? I got a new Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 about six months ago. Love it!

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone except I still write my appointments in my planner.

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Naples, Florida – gorgeous homes and beautiful beach

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Don’t be afraid of long hours! Go for it!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? I love to use emojis. The California Association of Realtors published some real estate emojis. My clients and peers get a kick out of them when I text them!

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Sorry, I do not tweet!
