Appealing to Atlanta locals can lead to success

New data from Trulia shows that people more are adept at searching for homes in their metro area’s suburbs than people who live elsewhere and are looking to move to that metro. In fact, 60 percent of all home searches around the country originate from the same metro area.

According to Trulia, Atlanta was the fifth-most locally searched metro area in the country of 10 studied. Due to the city’s sprawl and comparatively low population density, potential homebuyers often search the city’s urban core, but Trulia found that Atlanta’s satellite cities are popular searches. The city’s most searched suburb, Whitesburg, got 86 percent of searches and has a median home value of $104,042. Rounding out the metropolitan area’s most-searched cities by locals are:

2. Emerson, where locals account for 85.4 percent of searches and the median home value is $123,235.

3. Roopville, where locals make up 85.3 percent of searches and the median home value is $114,833.

4. Bremen, which has a median home value of $100,700 and where locals make up 84.7 percent of searches.

5. Carrollton, where, like Bremen, locals account for 84.7 percent of searches and where the median home value is $114,515.
