aaeaaqaaaaaaaan7aaaajgy4nta4zjvllwy4mtctngq2ny1hogrllti3mmfly2uxzdi5mqWhat was your first job in the realty industry? Delivering listings door to door to real estate offices in 1977

Where did you grow up? Kailua, Oahu Hawaii. I lived there until I moved to Roswell nine years ago! I am a local boy who moved to the big city!

Growing up, what did you want to be? Happy and full of joy. A contribution to as many people as possible. I grew up in real estate (my parents started Stott Real Estate and I always knew it was it for me).

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Play basketball or train for sprint triathlons. I also read inspirational books. Currently digging “Joy on Demand” by Chade-Meng Tan.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Probably Ben Franklin. He did so many interesting things and thought such great thoughts. Such a creative person.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My hot tub with my wife and kids

What do you love most about the industry? Having clients tell me, “You did the best job ever. I didn’t know how much a good agent does.” Coming from a spirit of contribution and service lets me joyfully help families buy, sell and rent homes!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I’ve been selling for 36 years and have been a part of selling over 3000 homes. I am an International Coach Federation Certified Coach (one of Inman’s top 25 Coaches in 2016). I am a certified Residential Specialist. None of that matters – what sets me apart is I ask great questions and listen to the client’s answers!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Right now – FSBOs are selling on their own

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? 60 percent of my business comes from past clients so I stay in touch with them. I run a networking group in Marietta. I generate leads daily.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I am a very happy husband to my best friend, partner and friend Donna and proud father of five terrific young adults! It’s been my honor to be in their lives.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “Joy on Demand,” “Ego is the Enemy,” “Decisive,” “Flourish” and “Monster Loyalty.” I read a lot – five to eight books a month!

What is your favorite restaurant? Casa Nuavo in Cumming – best Italian we’ve ever had.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The King and Queen buildings. I love seeing them lit up at night. New stadiums are awesome too.

What kind of car do you drive? A Ford C-Max – 40-plus miles per gallon and perky 🙂

Smartphone or paper? IPhone!

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Kailua, Hawaii

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? It’s hard, wonderfully rewarding work. Schedule prospecting time every day!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Loanshark

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Seth Godin, Robin Sharma
