Agent Snapshot: Tonya Armour, Broker/Agent, Wright’s Realty Group

Name: Tonya Armour

Job Title: Broker/Agent

Company: Wright’s Realty Group of Georgia

What was your first job in the realty industry? My first job in the real estate profession was as a Mortgage Loan Officer. As much as I enjoyed the mortgage end, there is much less personal interaction. I love helping others fulfill their dreams and goals through real estate.

Where did you grow up? I am a native Atlantan. I have witnessed the development and redevelopment of Atlanta and metro Atlanta areas. It’s a great advantage knowing the rich history and the endless possibilities of Atlanta neighborhoods.

Growing up, what did you want to be? My plans were to be a pediatrician, majoring in Chemistry as an Emory University freshman. Not a far cry from real estate sales, as I consider it a science to create the perfect match for property, price and personality.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I love listening to Prince, 80’s rock and Law & Order SVU marathons!

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Prince. I have loved Prince since kindergarten and when I met him I was speechless. Would love to discuss music, religion and politics with this musical genius.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My bed! My house is my refuge.

What do you love most about the industry? I love meeting new people and new cultures. There is such a diverse mix of people that buy and invest in Atlanta.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I believe my sincerity and passion for what I do distinguishes me from those that consider this a “job” or “side hustle.”

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The most difficult aspect is real estate is that it is not merely a job, but a lifestyle and requires 24/7 on-call duty.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I meet new clients everywhere: from my children’s school to the grocery store.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I cannot think of one single greatest accomplishment. I would have to say a home in Westview that my international client and I rehabbed from a vacant eyesore with squatters to a beautiful rental property that has quadrupled in value.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I loved “Marshall.” Bio flicks are my favorite.

What is your favorite restaurant? Herban Fix. As a relatively new vegan, it is refreshing to have a restaurant with delicious dishes.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? I absolutely love the new Mercedes Benz Stadium!

What kind of car do you drive? I normally drive an Equus.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone. Although I love writing with a pen, my Note 8 is a perfect fit for me.

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Guancaste, Costa Rica. If it’s not Atlanta, I’m on the beach, chillaxing with a virgin margarita.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Listen to the needs of the client and provide them.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Homesnap. I love using one app to communicate with agents and buyers in one app.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Joel Osteen, Joseph Ripley, William Muphy III, and my children.
