Wight Mixon, Associate Broker

Dorsey Alston, Realtors

Wight Mixon, a 15-year industry veteran, follows a family tradition of success in real estate. “My heart was ultimately drawn to the business that’s in my blood,” she says. Wight followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, mother and uncles who are all past presidents of The Atlanta Board of Realtors. Wight was elected to serve as president of the board in 2011. She was also honored with its Captain of the Industry Award for serving in leadership roles for more than a decade, and for her exemplary contribution to its operations with its Five Star Circle of Service Award. Mixon is a recipient of the Phoenix Award, recognizing her 10 years in the Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club.

Wight graduated from the University of Georgia, and makes ongoing professional development and self-education priorities in order to deepen her knowledge of the real estate industry and better serve her clients. Her ability to understand and identify with many types of buyers and sellers has helped her work with a range of first-time homeowners, luxury purchasers and property investors. Her referral-based business stems from her reputation for trustworthiness and patience, two qualities that help her quickly earn client confidence.

Mixon’s commitment to her clients’ needs is ultimately what motivates her and drives her business. “It is particularly gratifying to have a career that affords me the opportunity to help others fulfill their dreams,” she explains. “Entering into a real estate transaction is not only a practical or financial decision, but also an emotional one. Whether my clients are buying or selling, the true reward comes in knowing that I help people accomplish their goals.” Mixon’s multiple designations prove that she’s well equipped to handle many types of transactions: she is an Accredited Buyer’s Representative, Accredited Seller Representative and Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist.

Mixon believes strongly in volunteerism. She serves on the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and has also been inducted into the chapter’s Leadership Class Hall of Fame. For more than 15 years, she has participated in the organization’s annual Bike MS event to raise funds to help find a cure for the illness, a cause that is close to her heart. But even as this kind of civic engagement touches others’ lives, Mixon says that she draws her greatest inspiration from her mother, a 45-year veteran in the industry, who serves as a great example of how to build relationships based on trust and how to achieve success in the real estate business. That inspiration has been a source of strength for Wight and has made all the difference in developing her own philosophy about her work. “My approach to my career is simple, but failsafe,” she laughs. “I just do my best for my clients and in the end, that always works.”
