Agent Snapshot: Bobbie Schmitt, Associate Broker, Engel & Volkers Buckhead

bobbie-schmitt

Bobbie Schmitt is an associate broker with Engel & Volkers Buckhead

What was your first job in the realty industry? I became a real estate agent in Oct. 1972 in Orlando, just one year after Walt Disney World opened. I sold hundreds of homes in the Greater Orlando area until I opened my real estate company in 1989.

Where did you grow up? My dad was a Marine – I was born in Camp LeJuene, North Carolina, and moved around many times while he was in the service. He retired in 1968, and settled in Orlando.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A successful entrepreneur, wife, mother, and grandmother. I am very fortune to become all four – my love of helping people purchase, design, and decorate their homes has made my dream come true, as I own and operate my interior design business, Sunnerbird Design, as well as list and sell homes in the Metro Atlanta area.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I love to play with my Maltese puppy, Chanel, and to walk and swim. There is nothing like being with family and friends to alleviate or eliminate stress.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Jesus – there is just so much to ask and learn.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My home – I love to entertain. Friends and family are the best!

What do you love most about the industry? Helping people achieve their goals by finding the perfect home, or helping them sell as needed. Homeownership is often the most expensive investment people can make, and buying/selling can be frightening in this ever-changing market. My love is to take the fear away and walk my clients through the process in a smooth and satisfying journey.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? More than 44 years of experience, a wealth of education, and a complete understanding of the buying and selling process – as well as compassion for my clients – helps make buying or marketing a home for sale an enjoyable experience for my clients.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Referrals are the most sincere form of compliment for a real estate processional, and I have received many over the years.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest business accomplishment is helping a buyer purchase, or a seller sell their home. There are few things more gratifying than helping people achieve their dreams and move forward.

What kind of car do you drive? A Cadillac SRX

Smartphone or paper? iPhone

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Orlando

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Don’t do this for “the deal” – do it for “the people.” Helping is most satisfactory, and if you do it well, it pays well.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Zonda
