Agent Snapshot: Shawn Morgan, Advisor, Engel & Völkers Atlanta

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? Managing the sales and marketing for a global skincare brand based in the UK. I once had five massages, five facials and five body treatments in a week as a secret shopper in London.

Where did you grow up? All over. I’ve lived in eight states and a foreign country (Florence, Italy).

Growing up, what did you want to be? LOL. My college years were dedicated to finding myself. I think I “majored” in 20 different things until I found my passion – public relations.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? A must for me is a long run.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Gosh, I couldn’t just pick one! Former President Obama, GA Representative John Lewis, RBG, Harvey Milk, and so many more!

What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret? There are many! But my favorite is The Doll’s Head Trail which is just a few miles from downtown. The trail is covered in crazy collection of outsider art. A must see!

What do you love most about the industry? Working with unique clients to help in the process from the purchase price to the appraisal.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I’m fortunate to have over 10,000 in my contacts from my over 25 years of experience. Many of my home sales happened this year because of those relationships.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? There really isn’t. I see challenges as an opportunity.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Every relationship you have from business to personal is an opportunity. I manage both and strive to communicate beyond the latest home I have on the market!

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? Karin Slaughter’s books. She happens to be a friend and neighbor of ours. She’s an amazing author!

What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta? I am the pickiest eater EVER. I’ve found Murphy’s in Virginia-Highlands to have an amazing menu with a chef who isn’t offended by my requests.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The Fox Theatre. This 1929 movie palace is known as the “Fabulous Fox.”

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? While at one of my showings, I met the director of a major TV show filmed in the ATL along with his family. He’s now my client. Was the last person to walk in and the Open House ended about 30 mins earlier, but I had over 50 touring the home.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? I had the opportunity to live in Florence, Italy for a year during my college time!

What is your favorite vacation spot and why? We love Greece and will go over during Thanksgiving week. The weather, people and history is amazing!

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? San Diego. We had the opportunity to live in SD for five years.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Create a marketing plan and revisit it often!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Chime. By far, the best CRM in the industry!

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
Jeff Bullas- digital god!

Ann Hadley – digital strategist, entrepreneur and author

Mike Allton – Great writer and social media marketing expert.

Jay Baer – internet pioneer and Customer Service expert!
