Agent Snapshot: Shelley Roberts, Realtor, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

Name: Shelley Roberts

Job Title: Realtor

Company: Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

What was your first job in the realty industry? General Contracting

Where did you grow up? Atlanta

Growing up, what did you want to be? A successful, productive and giving person.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Walk with my dog Izzy. Or read.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Mark Twain. His sense of self and sense of humor are fascinating to me.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Any patio or deck with family and friends.

What do you love most about the industry? The joy of seeing a buyer closing on their new home and the joy (and sometimes relief) of the seller closing on their current home and moving to their next chapter in life.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Being an Atlanta native, I have watched the city grow from infancy to where we are today. This enables me to really know and understand our market.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Honestly, keeping my pipeline full. This is not a part-time job. In order to make a career in real estate you have to constantly market yourself, your skills and your knowledge. It is vital to be considered a trusted adviser when helping people buy/seller their most expensive asset.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Everywhere. Those who know me know that I’ll talk to anyone and it really doesn’t matter where I am. I’m always ready and willing to discuss real estate.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? In early 2017, I closed an assemblage. I put 28 individual sellers together and sold the property as a package. It took 2 years and a lot of work, but it was well worth it.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I LOVE the Crazy Rich Asians series. Extremely smart, well written and funny.

What is your favorite restaurant? A Mano. It’s a small restaurant in the city that has great food. The atmosphere is super friendly.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? There are so many, but I’ll say the Hyatt Regency. It was built by John Portman when I was a girl and at the time was the tallest building in Atlanta. And it’s still there.

What kind of car do you drive? 2011 BMW 528i (Black)

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone all the way!

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Chicago

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Be prepared to work your tail off.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Market Leader

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Donald Trump
