The Atlanta-based apartment developer has been on a selling and building spree over the last year.
The head of the Atlanta Preservation Center reportedly said the L-shaped tower would “besiege” an adjacent historic apartment building.
The completion of the property, Westbound at The Works, will mark the end of The Works’ phase one development, which spans 27 acres and includes 184,000 square feet of retail and 125,000 square feet of office space.
The master-planned community will be known as Oak Hill Reserve and is slated to open in spring 2023.
The garden-apartment project sits on more than 23 acres adjacent to Sugar Hill’s new master-planned downtown.
The properties, which were purchased for an undisclosed amount, total 1,080 apartment units.
The 40-unit garden-apartment community opened in 1962 and is located at 3518 Roswell Road.
The properties are Park Estates, a 138-unit community of two-bedroom, 1,050-square-foot apartments and Austin Estates, a 118-unit complex.
The development is the first to take advantage of Johns Creek’s new TC-X mixed-use ordinance, which was enacted to facilitate the development of the city’s 192-acre Town Center Vision and Plan.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the property last sold for $42 million in June 2019, according to Dekalb County records.
Highlands of Decatur will bring 46 new homes to Flat Shoals Road between Gresham Park and Panthersville.
The properties encompass a total of 592 apartments.
Royal Estates will have 173 single-family homes priced from the low $400,000s.
The 300-unit community in Lawrenceville is slated to open in early 2024.
The 205-unit community was rebranded Gibson by Radius.
The development is situated in Loganville in an area “known for its equestrian lifestyle, with many beautiful horse farms that create a quiet pastoral setting,” the developer said.
